The Retract Purchase option that is a complete SCAM
- Tiquetesbaratos.com is a website, an online travel agency, a search engine that allows you to compile various flight options so that those interested can easily find the flight that fits their economic needs. In addition to this, this agency offers benefits such as reservation cancellation, which they call "purchase retraction" and allows the user to reverse their reservation within the first 5 days of the transaction being registered. However, not all that glitters is gold, and this company is one more of those that do not comply with the "good faith" of the fine print.
- In May, I made a purchase of a round trip flight from Bogota to Washington DC, with Aircanada airline but due to visa problems I had to cancel the purchase. The tedious process began there because once I wanted to contact the agency at night it was impossible, the operator informed that the opening hours were during the day and the deception began since their website deceptively informs that they have 24/7 support. I waited for the next day to contact them to request the withdrawal but it was a problem because the agents took my call and as soon as they knew my request, they cut the connection. When I was finally able to hold a call without losing it and asked for the cancellation of my purchase made the day before, the agent refused to do it informing that it was my responsibility to be sure of the purchase so I had to get angry and demand to comply with my right since I fulfilled the requirements to be approved and not doing so could be taken as misleading advertising.
- The request was indeed received, I had to send a message describing the situation and the reason for cancellation, attaching proof of payment, copy of the itinerary and identity document to the agency's email, a message that was answered a few minutes later with an acceptance and informing that the process could take about 30 calendar days to be effective. Even so, the reimbursement was never made, more than 6 months have passed and I have not received a response from the agency. Therefore, the step I took was to file a lawsuit with the Super Intendencia de Industria y Comercio SIC, the entity in charge of overseeing the behavior of companies in Colombia.
- The case is currently active, it has been a process of sending and responding in a timely manner, the wait is long, this type of process takes months; however, surely it will be resolved and the refund will be generated. This is how I recommend to make sure to buy on the right dates and have the documentation in order; but above all, I will always recommend to buy flights directly with the airlines, this way you avoid many inconveniences due to third parties involved.
